Webb3 dec. 2015 · When used, "FADE IN:" is formatted using all caps in a screenplay and with all caps and underlined in a sitcom teleplay. A stage play begins with a description of the set as it appears to the audience when the curtain rises or the lights come up. The words "AT RISE:", often formatted in all caps, precede this description. WebbHowever, imo you should avoid using caps in dialogue. If you feel the need to emphasize a spoken word or line, try italics, bold, or underline. Scripts can be messy - there's no objectively right way to format (unless you're on a show, in which case the objectively right way is whatever your boss tells you).
